Seeking an AOD Practitioner to join a prison-based programme, delivering impactful therapeutic support within a collaborative, culturally aware team.

About the Opportunity: Our client, a partnership between two respected organisations, is seeking an experienced Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Practitioner to join their dedicated team at Christchurch Men’s Prison. This role is part of a holistic health and wellbeing programme aimed at supporting individuals affected by problematic AOD use, within a multidisciplinary environment.

The Role:
  • Deliver educational and therapeutic group sessions within the prison setting.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans and assessments to meet individual client needs.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical, peer support, and cultural staff.
  • Employ a strengths-based approach in delivering elective topics and activities.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Ideally registered or willing to work towards registration with an allied health profession (e.g., Social Work, OT, NZAC, DAPAANZ).
  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and familiarity with tikanga Māori/Te Reo Māori.
  • A non-judgmental and empathetic approach to supporting tangata whaiora.
