Family Violence Advocate
Location: Auckland, New Zealand

About the Role
As a Family Violence Advocate, you will work on the frontlines to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals impacted by family violence, including women, children, and families. This role involves delivering critical crisis response services, risk assessment, and safety planning. You will collaborate with multiple agencies, such as the Police and local health services, to ensure that clients receive comprehensive support tailored to their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Provide empathetic, trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing family violence, helping them access essential resources and support networks.
  • Crisis Intervention: Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention services, including home or hospital visits as needed.
  • Advocacy: Act as a trusted advocate, liaising with external agencies and community organizations to ensure clients receive comprehensive, holistic support.
  • Case Management: Maintain up-to-date records, manage case documentation, and coordinate follow-up services.
  • Program Delivery: Facilitate Ministry of Justice-funded safety programs for adults and children, empowering clients to achieve long-term safety and self-sufficiency.
What You Bring
  • Qualifications: Qualifications and current practicing certificate in social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in family violence advocacy, social services, or crisis intervention.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills with an ability to handle sensitive situations with care and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to Community: A genuine dedication to improving lives through compassionate, culturally sensitive advocacy and collaboration.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and comfort working within diverse cultural contexts.
  • Full licence required for company vehicle use.
